Campaign Goals & Purpose:
-
Donations $162,500 of $350,000 goal
Our goal is to raise $350,000 to design and build the course, including signage and ongoing maintenance. Our multi-phase plan anticipates staging cross-country meets beginning in fall of 2022. The project is a public/private collaboration between the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District and the Big Sur Marathon Foundation. Please note: Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District is a public agency and not involved in fundraising in any way.
Cross-country running is one of the most economically accessible and egalitarian of all school sports, offering students benefits that last a lifetime. Our community’s runners, joggers and walkers will all benefit too. Please join us in making this project a reality!
“Running taught me valuable lessons. In cross-country competition, training counted more than intrinsic ability, and I could compensate for a lack of natural aptitude with diligence and discipline. I applied this in everything I did.”
– Nelson Mandela
